Tucked along the peaceful banks of the Lamoille River and directly on the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail, Gnome Shire Cottage was created to be more than just a place to stay—it’s a place to slow down, reset, and enjoy the simple beauty of Vermont.
We’re located in Wolcott, right between Stowe, Morrisville, Elmore and Hardwick—a central home base to explore real Vermont.
Why “Gnome Shire”?
You might be wondering—why the name Gnome Shire Cottage?
To us, gnomes represent something simple but meaningful: a kind of quiet, egalitarian way of living. A community where people look out for one another, take pride in what they build, and live a little closer to the land.
They’re often imagined tending gardens, crafting with their hands, and finding joy in the small, everyday moments—morning coffee, fresh air, a walk down a quiet path.
