Mission:

The monasteries mission is to provide safe haven for Raja Yoga Devotees to establish a daily sadhana practice, conduct daily Aarti, and promote and share Sanātana Dharma (Oneness, non-duality, universal truth) with the public. as inspired thru Swami Kripalu, Swami Yogananda, Guru Nanak/Guru Ram Das, Bab Siri Chand.

Expanded Mission:

The monastery is a resource for the local community to learn about raja yoga and Sanātana Dharma thru weekly Satsang gatherings which can include asana and pranayama practices, guided meditations, chanting mantra, lectures and group discussions.

Beliefs:

We have to be careful with beliefs because they can lead to neurotic, dogmatic, and rigid thinking.

But, the Sadhana Center operates with the understanding that that we are all ONE , One Creator, One Creation, The Creator and the Creation are One. And from that truth comes the basis of why we are here and how we can best LIVE to realize the true nature of the self, self-realization.

We DO encourage everyone to find the path within not from another, the yogic teachings and religious teachings provide us valuable truth and insights but ultimately it has to resonate within us, in every fiber of ones being, the path is a pathless path. We do look to Swami Kripalu, Swami Yogananda and the Sikh Gurus for wisdom and etheric guidance but their have been many wonderful teachers on the path of ONENESS, Sanātana Dharma, and Raja Yoga.

The core of the Sadhana Center:

• Daily Sadhana Practice centered around the yoga sutras (Raja Yoga)
• Seeing the other as YOU or seeing God in All.
• Direct experience with the divine.
• Harmony with nature by finding harmony within oneself
• The highest yoga is observation without judgment
• Striving to practice the Yamas and Niyamas

Sacred and Inspired Texts:

-ATMA Gita – the central main text forms the foundation of our spiritual practice.

-Bhagavad Gita

-The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali

-Siri Guru Granth Sahib, mostly Japji- provides an abundance of wisdom and a sound pattern for chanting.

The Secret of life
is the ability to enter into the present moment.

As you learn to live through experiences with childlike openness,
grace will begin to flow through you.

-Yogi Amrit Desai

What is Gnome Shire Cottage?

Gnome Shire Cottage is the chosen name of the main house for the Sadhana Center. It functions as a marketing name for renting rooms on airbnb which helps supplement the expenses for The Sadhana Center and allows us to fulfill the mission.

Why call it Gnome Shire Cottage?

To us Gnomes represent a magical society of folks working together for the good of each other and environment. An egalitarian society without competition, a focus on equality, cooperation and collaboration. Set in the green mountains with Vermont’s cultural focus on neighbors helping neighbors, building community, inclusiveness, and protecting nature combined with our mission to share the yogic teachings of peace and oneness, “Gnome Shire” feels fitting.
